Unfortunately, no truly free VPN offers the whole package of security, speed, reliability, and unlimited usage. With a VPN service (a virtual private network) users are looking for connectivity, speed, reliability, privacy, and anonymity Free VPNs are bad for us sometimes some companies stealing and your data and track you for advertising purposes while paid VPN offers strong secure vpn servers with no-log policy and military-grade encryption, etc because of that we need to use a paid VPN instead of free.
I agree with you also using paid version and using the best protocols PPTP because this is one of the simplest VPN protocols to set up and is pre-installed on the majority of Windows, Mac OSX, Android, and iOS computers. Not only is it simpler, but it is also faster than other built-in protocols such as L2TP/IPSec, SSTP, and IKEv2.
Free vpn services are not a good option in current privacy threats. Yes, if you only need to select 1 location with limited features then free vpn can be handy but again data will be compromised. I would prefer using cheap but paid vpn service like Ivacy vpn. It has cheapest pricing plan and offers almost all great vpn features.
